ZOSSO WARNING & GUARANTEE

The U.S. FDA has not approved of the Zinc Oxide Sulfur Sublimate Ointment [ZOSSO]. However, the Chinese government has approved of using ZOSSO with the approval number Guo Yao Zhun Zi H 53021786.

Risks and Side Effects

There are no known long term risks using ZOSSO. The short term risk is that you may be allergic to ZOSSO since, as with all treatments rosacea, a few people may be sensitive to ZOSSO. So if you are either allergic or sensitive to ZOSSO this is the only short term risk. To determine whether one is sensitive or allergic to ZOSSO the recommendation is to apply a small amount on a small area of the skin and let dry to see if there is any reaction. If not, apply ZOSSO to the effected area of the skin at night just before bed.

The side effects of using ZOSSO are:

(1) Tearing of the eyes. The mint/menthol effect may cause tearing of the eyes in some people. However, the recommended use is to apply ZOSSO just before bed and close your eyes and go to sleep. Try to not allow your face to smear the ZOSSO on your pillow but let it dry. Once dry, the ZOSSO usually does not cause tearing of the eyes.

(2) A cool mint/menthol effect happens after application. This irritates a few people, but most report they love the cooling effect.

(3) ZOSSO dries the skin, so that people with dry skin tend to dry up even more and cause flaking of the skin. This can be treated with using a moisturizer during the day. It is not recommened to use the ZOSSO during the day (however, you may use it if you want) and apply a moisturizer during the day and only use the ZOSSO at night just before going to sleep. For those with oily skin, usually there are no complaints of dry skin. Please read the recommended regimen page.
